Shawn's Log - Project information

Personal Project

I was encouraged by a friend, and long time developer, to make something dumb. Mission accomplished!

Last year, a friend of mine began texting me every time he was doing...something in particular. I didn't sign up for his newsletter or anything, but here we are. I thought that if I made an app for him, he'd stop texting. So far, it's worked. That makes this a successful app, right?

This project has two interfaces. The first (Shawn's Button), hosted on Heroku, simply has a button that Shawn pushes every time he...has an event. It logs the event. That's it. The other interface (Shawn's Log), hosted on Netlify, fetches and processes the data.

My next steps for development on this are to add achievement awards for Shawn's Button once another friend creates the artwork for the awards. Shawn has also requested the ability to have a text message sent to a number whenever his button is pressed. This feature is being considered, only out of my personal interest in working with a SMS API for fun.
